Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum — Civil War Rooms
Weston
Asylum / Hospital High Activity
History & Paranormal Activity
The largest hand-cut stone building in North America held psychiatric patients from 1864 to 1994. During the Civil War, it was simultaneously occupied by Union and Confederate forces in different wings — soldiers from both sides died there and are reported as uniformed apparitions in the basement tunnels. The ghost of Lily — a 9-year-old girl who died in the children's ward in the 1930s — is the most active spirit; she responds to investigators who leave toys and interacts with those who call her name. EVP sessions in Ward R consistently produce Class-A responses within minutes.
