History & Paranormal Activity
The 1787 Old Gaol in Windham County is Connecticut's oldest surviving jail structure and held some of the state's most infamous criminals of the early Republic. The spirit of a Revolutionary War prisoner who died in the upper cell of what was then considered starvation is the most reported apparition — a gaunt figure in period dress who appears near the original cell lock mechanism. Researchers at the Connecticut Paranormal Research Society document consistent thermal anomalies and EVPs from the ground floor where executions were conducted.
