The Villisca Axe Murder House
Villisca
Haunted Building High Activity
History & Paranormal Activity
On June 9, 1912, eight people — six members of the Moore family and two overnight guests — were killed with an axe in this small Iowa home while they slept. The killer was never definitively identified despite two trials. The house, preserved largely as it was that night, is now a paranormal investigation destination where guests may spend the night. Objects move in the children's room where the Moore children were killed, voices are heard in the attic where the killer reportedly waited for hours, and full-body apparitions have been photographed on the staircase.
