The Myrtles Plantation — William Winter Murder
St. Francisville
Haunted Building High Activity
History & Paranormal Activity
William Winter, a lawyer who lived at the Myrtles in the 1870s, was shot on the front porch by a stranger and dragged himself inside to die on the 17th step of the staircase. His ghost is heard — and felt — on that exact step, and motion sensors placed there by investigators are triggered consistently at night. The plantation's ornate Venetian mirror in the entry hall is said to have trapped the souls of Sarah Woodruff and her children who died of poisoning — handprints that cannot be cleaned appear on the glass.
