Deep in the Morgan-Monroe State Forest, this small pioneer cemetery is home to 'The Lady in Black' — a woman in dark Victorian mourning dress who sits on a tree stump near her child's grave and curses anyone who disturbs the burial ground. Multiple sheriff's deputies have reported encounters with the figure. The stump, worn smooth by decades of sitting, generates cold spots measurable with thermal equipment year-round. Photographs taken near the grave of Mary Hott consistently show an inexplicable white mist regardless of weather conditions.
