Rhyolite Ghost Town

Rhyolite

Ghost Town Medium Activity

History & Paranormal Activity

Rhyolite exploded from nothing to 10,000 residents between 1905 and 1907 when gold was discovered in the Bullfrog Hills, then collapsed entirely by 1916 when the ore played out. The ruined concrete skeletons of a three-story bank, a train depot, and Tom Kelly's famous bottle house — built from 50,000 beer and liquor bottles — still stand in the Mojave. Visitors photograph apparitions of miners and townspeople in the ruins at dusk, hear footsteps in empty buildings, and report vehicles dying near the cemetery where over 300 residents are buried in unmarked graves.
