History & Paranormal Activity
Built in 1771 on Mud Island in the Delaware River, Fort Mifflin withstood a six-week British bombardment in 1777 that ranks as among the most intense artillery barrages in American history. The site is famous for the 'Screaming Woman of Fort Mifflin' — an apparition in period dress who lets out blood-curdling screams heard by visitors and neighbors alike. A faceless man has been photographed in the blacksmith shop, and soldiers in period uniform are seen standing watch at the ramparts.
