History & Paranormal Activity
On April 14, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was shot in the presidential box at Ford's Theatre and carried across the street to the Petersen House, where he died the next morning. Multiple actors performing at the restored theatre have reported seeing a man in period dress in the presidential box during rehearsals. A figure matching Lincoln's description — tall, in a stovepipe hat — has been photographed on multiple occasions. The ghost of John Wilkes Booth has been reported in the basement of the adjacent museum, where his derringer pistol and diary are displayed.
