Driskill Hotel
Austin
Haunted Building High Activity
History & Paranormal Activity
Austin's grande dame hotel, built in 1886 by cattle baron Jesse Driskill, is celebrated for its architecture and its ghosts. The spirits of two young girls who died on separate occasions by falling from the mezzanine railing are reported playing in the hallways. The ghost of Driskill himself, who lost the hotel gambling and died in poverty, stalks the lobby in a wide-brimmed hat. Room 525 has the most documented activity: four women who stayed in the room during the 1990s all reportedly became obsessed with the hotel and chose to end their lives there.
