Battery Carriage House Inn
Charleston
Haunted Building High Activity
History & Paranormal Activity
This antebellum carriage house on the Battery in Charleston hosts one of the strangest apparitions in the South: a 'headless torso' in a period waistcoat has been encountered by guests in Room 10, sitting at the foot of the bed. Room 8 hosts a young Confederate soldier who died in the house and still appears at the window, watching the harbor. The inn sits on land that served as a Confederate battery position, and guests frequently report hearing cannon fire and the sound of musketry in the early morning hours.
