Adak Island — WWII Ghost Installation
Adak
Historic Site High Activity
History & Paranormal Activity
Adak Island hosted one of WWII's most intensive Pacific campaigns — American forces built an entire military city of 90,000 in months, and the island was the staging point for the disastrous Kiska invasion where 35,000 troops assaulted an island the Japanese had secretly evacuated. The ghost city of Adak — now nearly abandoned — is filled with intact WWII infrastructure including hospitals, cinemas, and barracks where phantom soldiers in WWII uniforms are reported by the island's tiny remaining population. The fog-shrouded Aleutian landscape amplifies the feeling of isolation, and aircraft sounds with no corresponding aircraft are reported year-round.
